Neuromodulator Treatment Care

 Pre-Treatment

(Daxxify, Botox, Dysport, Jeuveau, Dysport, Botox, & Xeomin)

  • Be sure you have completed all REQUIRED pre-appointment paperwork in your portal prior to your appointment.

  • For optimal results and to minimize the chance of bleeding or bruising at the injection site, please avoid all blood thinning medications and supplements for one week prior to your treatment. This includes aspirin and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) such as ibuprofen, Motrin, and Aleve and high does of vitamin-E and Omega-3 fish oil. If you take aspirin or other blood thinners on your doctor's advice or orders, do not stop taking your medication.

  • Please notify us in advance if you are taking Coumadin, Plavix or any other blood thinner for a medical condition.

  • If you are prone to bruising, consider taking Arnica (can purchase at Wild Moon Collective or Amazon) to help the bruising and swelling. Begin taking at least two days prior to injections

  • Studies have shown taking a zinc supplement daily, starting 2-3 days before your treatment and continuing until the day of treatment can help your neuromodulator longevity. Our favorite is Zinc Picolinate 30mg

Post-Treatment

All of the listed side effects are temporary and will resolve as the neurotoxin is metabolized. However, please call the office to notify us if you experience any of the above side effects.

    • Immediately following toxin injection, the most commonly reported side effects are temporary redness and swelling at the injection site. This can often resemble a mosquito bit appearance at the injection site for some. This typically self-resolves within an hour. Cold gel/ice packs may be used immediately after treatment to reduce swelling.

    • To avoid a bruise, refrain from taking blood thinning medications (see above) for several days after.

    • If you are prone to bruising, consider taking Arnica (can purchase at Wild Moon Collective or Amazon) to help the bruising and swelling. Begin taking at least two days prior to injections

    • Do NOT massage injection sites.

    • No tight-fitting hats or objects putting pressure on injection sites

    • No strenuous exercise for 6 hours. Most clients are able to work out the next day with provider approval.

    • No hot tubs or saunas for 24 hours

    • Mild headache

    • Bruising at the injection site

    • A sensation of "numbness" or tingling at the injection site

    • Feeling of pressure or fullness at the injection site

All of the above side effects are temporary and will resolve as the neurotoxin is metabolized. However, please call the office to notify us if you experience any of the above side effects.

  • Muscles injected with neuromodulators may start to show decreased movement as early as 3 days, but results can take up to 14 days for the full effect. If the desired effect has not occurred by day 14 and you have been treated with the recommended number of units, a follow-up treatment or additional units may be needed (added units at follow-up appointment are priced at the same per unit price as the original treatment.)

Please reach out to schedule an appointment, if needed. If a follow-up appointment is after 4 weeks, it is no longer considered a follow-up appointment.

  • Neuromodulators last, on average, 2-4 months. Individual results vary. If treated for hyperhidrosis, results typically last between 6-12 months.  It is recommended at the time of your treatment to schedule your next appointment for optimal anti-aging benefits.
